Food

Madrid is a heaven on earth for foodies and has been described as "the most exciting place to eat in Europe” by the Telegraph in 2017. The vibrant food scene is plentiful and has been a melting pot since the beginning of the 17th-century. The markets, taverns, restaurants and bars are some of the best in Spain. Century-old restaurants such as 'Botín', found in 1725, are preserving their tradition. Other restaurants, mashing up Spanish and international cuisine have attracted international attention. The local’s favourite remains propping themselves at a bar and enjoying shared tapas among their friends accompanied by beer, wine and vermut or sherry. As a traveller you should prepare for late dining hours, supper only starts around 10pm.
