Chueca

During the day: This Madrid neighborhood has been known as the gay neighborhood for the past two decades, similar to San Francisco’s Castro. With nearly 2,000,000 participants it also host one of the world’s largest Gay Pride Parades. Chueca has become a playground for the city's youth, packed with fabulous restaurants, boutiques, funky bars and clubs. The center of this barrio is Plaza de Chueca. From here it is only one minute walking to the Mercado de San Antón, a great example of the transformation this are has undergone. The Mercado is a 3-story gourmet food market, a art gallery, a fantastic rooftop bar but still incorporates the meat and fish stalls that have been around forever. At Night: At night the edgy and high-end nightclubs, restaurants and bars turn Chueca into one of the trendiest nightlife destinations in the city. It is undoubtedly one of the best places to go out in Madrid. Gay men will find a variety of bars, discotheques, bath houses, drag parties and S&M clubs.
