Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum
With over 1,600 paintings, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection is Europe’s largest private collection and was once the second largest private collection in the world after the British Royal Collection. In 1992 the Spanish state bought the collection and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum was born. Today, it is part of the ‘Golden Triangle of Art’ with Prado and the Reina Sofia Museum. Italian primitives, the German Renaissance, 19th century American art, Impressionism, German Expressionism and Russian Constructivism are the most widely represented schools and movements in the museum.
