With the Madrid Rio, the city turned the M-30 freeway into a 10-kilometer green park along the Manzanares river and brought the madrileños back to the riverbed. It has become a popular spot for leisure activities like running, rollerblading, cycling or simply walking from one neighborhood to the next. It offers a great variety of exhibitions, musical festivals and theater plays. Madrileños can choose to hang out at the urban beach, the 17 playgrounds, the kayak docks or the openair bars.
