La Casa Encendida – ‘The Burning House’ in English – was initiated by the Spanish bank Caja Madrid. Just five-minute walking from the Reina Sofia Museum it has become a social and cultural center showcasing modern and contemporary art exhibits. It regularly hosts courses and workshops on social matters, culture and the environment. During the summer, the terrace roof functions also as open-air movie theatre where drinks are served. From the beginning, La Casa Encendida has supported creative young people through various programs.
